Why is baptism important?
Why do we need to be baptized?
What is the correct method?
Should children be baptized and when?
Should infants be baptized and why?
If you were baptized pre-conversion should you be re-baptized post conversion?
What significance (if any) in your mind does baptism play?
The DragonSlayer did a post on this and it brought varied responses. It would be interesting to
see what you have to say.

Ok, sorry bout that just wanted to be a little funny today.
I really think that baptism is a beautiful thing. I think the symbolism of death, burial, resurrection, washing etc...are all things that can carry weight in the soul...a good weight that should be carried.
Its funny that you ask these questions, because my wife and I were having a conversation the other day with a young girl in her early 20's about being baptised. She had grown up in the Catholic Church and was baptized as an infant, but never really came to any belief in Jesus as she grew up. She stopped going to Church altogether at 14 because her parents said she could decide for herself if she wanted to go or not. She dabbled in wicca, she struggled with her sexual identity etc...
Now in her early 20's, she is attending a small group that I lead and thinking about being baptized but doesn't want to offend her grandmother. I told it to her like this:
Lets say that you got married 15 years ago. The marriage has had its ups and downs, there have been times when you have wanted to just leave...and at times, in small ways you have. But now you and your husband have reconciled and are growing in leaps and bounds. You are coming to know each other in ways that you never knew each other before. And in the middle of all that, your husband says "you know what, lets get married again! Lets invite all our friends and family, stand before them and before God, and state out intentions to love, honor, obey, and grow with one another...
Then I asked her what she would do...
She said she would do it...
And I said, "that is why Jesus wants you to be baptized."
So we did...in the neighbor's hot-tub.
