New Wine Skin or ????

When we speak of working with God to create a new wine skin that makes disciples who make disciples I am wondering....

For a disciple-making movement to be free to go wherever God wants it to go am I making a mistake to confine her to a new wine skin? A movement of God cannot be contained to a wine skin.

A wine skin reflects something that will hold new wine. A Movement of disciples making disciples cannot be contained and to contain it will be to stop it. This is what happens in institutions and systems of ministry.

So we are making new wine for a new day as God starts a movement through us. Coming generations will be lost if we do not break free to allow God to do it His way in this day.

Are you with me?

Bob,
Don't change that terminology just yet. You may have to hang with me on this one for a minute.

What was the "New Wine" that Jesus was speaking of? He talks of the bridegroom leaving and then the "New Wine" being put into a new wine skin.

I feel from your posts that you view the wine as ministry and the wine skin as the Church's way of doing ministry. If I am wrong this will still make sense.

What if the view of the wine as ministry is not correct and the "Church" as the wine skin is incorrect? Imagine for a minute that Christ was speaking of the wine as the Holy Spirit. Peter was accused of being full of New Wine on the day of Pentecost. The people were mocking him but what if he was full of New Wine - the Holy Spirit.
Then our terms just need to be tweaked a little.
We need a new wine skin - people who want to make disciples - to be filled with the New Wine - the Holy Spirit - and therefore we do not contain God in a system but send God out with these disciple makers to take the New Wine to a lost and dying world.
We don't make the new wine - God supplies it
We contain the new wine and allow God to use us as a vessel of honor

What do you think?

Now you have my attention. You are brilliant.

You said: We need a new wine skin - people who want to make disciples - to be filled with the New Wine - the Holy Spirit - and therefore we do not contain God in a system but send God out with these disciple makers to take the New Wine to a lost and dying world.

Terry, this is excellent. This is what I want in my life.

New wine skin: New work of the Holy Spirit and a Holy Spirit led ministry every step of the way. In other words, what we can do is less important because we care more about what God can do.

The wine: It keeps getting better and better and by this I mean: We finally see disciples being told and taught (by us) the need to make another disciple quickly after their Christ encounter.

Can you imagine a church filled with disciples making disicples? What part of this scares the American Churchianity?

Why do leaders across America argue that the Great Commission should not be viewed with supremacy? What's wrong with "Christians" making disciples? Where did we learn that the trained should do it?

Who trained the disciples of the 12 to go through a class?
