Movements Vs. Institutions

God creates Movements - we like to create Institutions.
We can choose to be part of God's Movement.
A Movement is greater than we are....

You cannot OWN a Movement
You cannot CONTROL a Movement
You cannot PROGRAM a Movement
You cannot SCHEDULE a Movement
You cannot FINANCE a Movement
You cannot STOP a Movement

All around the world God is blessing with explosive transformed lives. We can try to do this and have tried on our own. God wants to start a Movement in America, something that only He can do, so that that when it is done, everyone will know with certainty that God showed up.

If we took God out of our Sunday Morning "Come and See" Worship event, what would be left? The sad thing is, in many places across America, nothing would be different. Nothing would be different because we are good at Owning, Controlling, Programming, Scheduling, Financing, and Doing our thing. If you took God out of what you do, what would remain. Sadly, most everything if not everything remains in "Americanized Christianity" - Because we are good at doing Church without God. We need God to create a Movement and we should all want to be part of it.

Ooooh this is something to think about....

As I read this I think of Wesley and his desire to neither start a movement or an institution but to do God's will. I agree with the underlying ideas of the post but I would respectfully challenge the movement vs. institutiions concept. The "verses" means that winners and losers are the outcome. Instead would it be perhaps better to say that we are seeking to do God's will in all situations? For some this might be working within the institution for others it might be becoming part of an independent movement, for others it may be living a real relationship with a life changing Jesus, letting others see the reality and peace that this relationship brings and then lovingly inviting them into a similar journey. Just a thought or two...keep up the good work Bob, call sometime when you get a chance...Peace Jim

I agree with you....Let's do ONLY God's entire will.

Jim, I love your heart, I need you on the team for Kansas City...Somehow, someway...You can help us advance the will of God.

Bob--
I am on your team. Anyone who actively seeks to spread the timeless Great News of our Lord and Savior Jesus is on our team. Ask me for anything and I will help you to the best of my ability. We don't need to have "union cards" in common for that to happen. Peace
