Are you really satisfied with ministry?

Just another question worth pondering. Are you satisfied and fulfilled with your ministry? If so, what it is it that fulfills and satisfies you? If not, try to give us some thoughts from your heart.

Let's have some fun.

One year ago this week I sat down with my elders at my church - all close friends - and I shared with them that God was leading me to leave the church. After starting the church and pastoring for over 15 years, I found that my joy wasn't found in pastoring Lake Hills.

I had discovered that I really "come alive" in coaching and training church planters. That's my passion. That's what I love to do.

I am so blessed now to be a missionary with OC International to the United States. My role is to train and encourage and coach and support church planting. I love what I do!

Currently I am working with three church planters and it gives me so much joy! I've also found joy in taking steps to understand what it means to "fuel missionary movements" across the US. I've got so much to learn - but I'm loving it!

I can't imagine doing anything else.

Dave, you brought joy into my life tonight, thank you for following God and because of that- you are experiencing the blessings of obedience.

What a life indeed!

Is any of us satisfied with his or her ministry? I should hope not. But I think I know what you're getting at, Bob.

No, I am not satisfied with the state of my ministry, but I do try to "leave" my dissatisfaction in God's hands -- even while I continue to seek out more of His truth and more of His will for my life.

Dissatisfaction can end up leaving you empty if you let it eat away at you -- hence leaving it in God's hands. But dissatisfaction can also turn to unthinking complacency if ALL you do is leave it in God's hands.

I can set aside my dissatisfaction even while I seek to learn and expand my understanding.
