We have never...

In the Bible I love the story about these friends tearing off a roof and lowering a paralytic down through at the feet of Jesus. Jesus seeing their faith heals this man and he rises to his feet for the first timeand with unbelievable excitement and ran throughout the town for all to see. As people witnessed God's work the Scripture records these words spoken by those who witnessed this miracle, "We have never seen anything like this."

Please tell us when this happened to you. Jesus did something so awesome you could only think, I have never seen anything like this before.

Let's praise Jesus for His wonder-working power.

On 31 August 1995 my life, changed drastically.
I had an appointment at eight in the morning in Pretoria, and from there would face the road to Johannesburg. It was my custom to do it that way, as it would allow me to tackle that particular stretch of freeway after the main traffic has passed. This road looks more like a parking garage between six and nine in the mornings than a freeway.
During this meeting I could hardly sit still as I had a severe pain in my abdomen but more towards the right hand side. I thought I could handle the pain and eventually drove through to our offices, only to decide early in the afternoon to go to home and visit the doctor. There they identified acute appendicitis, and I was told to book into the hospital where they would take care of the problem. At around eight that night I was told that within a couple of minutes the pain would be removed and I would be all raring to go again.
When I eventually opened my eyes at around eleven, my whole world fell apart. I was told that they removed the problem, but also found a tumour of around eight centimetres (3 inches) long that they had to remove along with a meter (3 feet) of my small intestine, as the tumour was malignant. That’s all. To console me I was told that I had to return a number of weeks later as there were more tumours and lymph glands that had to be removed, as it could not be done that night, as I was not prepared for such a long operation.
The miracle that happened that night was that the surgeon and anaesthetist starting chatting while the surgeon was making room for himself to work, when he found the tumour. Normally the surgeon would just reach for and remove the appendix, but mine was tilted towards the back, which meant that he had to make room for him to work in when he found the tumour. If this did not happen, I would have been dead nine years ago.
The next morning things had a strange turn. I suddenly heard this wonderful choir music. I can only describe it as an angelic choir, and asked the two people with me in the ward what radio station they were listening to. I was told that they did not hear anything as both radios were switched off. Then I saw this amazing scene. It was like a scene at a game outlook where you can only look through a small opening in front of you when you visit some of our game parks. What I saw is still difficult to describe. There were people walking to a hill in the distance. They were all dressed in white linen with sandals on their feet. I instinctly knew that they were on their way to Mount Zion. With me in this outlook were two people. They spoke nothing but just allowed me to look and look and look. This scene remained in front of me for two days. It was there while sleeping, forcing my face up against a wall, with eyes open and closed. Hettie left that first morning after fifteen minutes as she could not get any reaction from me, apart from the fact that I told her that she was disturbing me while looking at this scene and listening to the choir music.
On returning home a couple of days later, I was told by our minister that I had to forget about this incident and continue with my life, as this event would drive me insane if I continued to think about it. We were doing an EE3 course at our local congregation during this time and I was asked by all the various team leaders to go out with them, as it would add real impact to their visits.
Seven weeks later I returned to the operating theatre for the next operation. During this operation they removed a number of tumours as well as twenty-four lymph glands. One tumour could not be removed completely as it was attached to a strategic artery, which meant that I would bleed to death if they tried to remove it completely. So today I am still living with this constant threat over my head that something malignant is still growing inside of me.
How did this series of events affect me and why did I tell here? Just as the operation had an influence on my physical body, it also had a huge impact on my spiritual life. Although I was convinced that I would inherit eternity with the LORD, I had to ensure that it was the case. That was when I started studying the Bible to ensure that everything I believed in was scriptually sound. I decided that if the people from Berea ensured that the apostle Paul was telling the truth by examining the scriptures to see if it was as he told them, I could do the same. I did not want to build my faith on a series of doctrines taught by the pastor, but I preferred building it on the full gospel of the Bible.
I am not trying to convince you that what is commonly taught is not the truth, but I believe everyone should have the option to decide for himself or herself. I asked the LORD to give me the insight and wisdom he gave to people like Paul, John and Peter and many more. That was when the Bible just exploded in my eyes, and when I started being taught by the Holy Spirit. That is why I have been able to write a number of books, taught many people to fulfil their calling as Christians, and the reason for starting my own ministry.

Incredible! Praise the Lord. Lourens, I rejoice with you. God does speak and must must do more that hear him -we must listen. Most people claim they hear -few really listen!
