It's not if, it is when!

Dan Kimball in his new book, "They Like Jesus But Not The Church", has this to say...
"I once heard someone explain that the church in America is not above what happened in Europe. European nations have truly become post-Christian nations. Their great cathedrals and church buildings once were filled with people, but now they sit almost empty on Sunday mornings and serve as tourist attractions. Far more people go through them sightseeing than actually worship there. We shouldn't think we're above such a thing happening here. With the increasing dropout rate of people in emerging generations, it could be our destiny that in thirty or forty years, all of our recently constructed mega-church buildings, which are now filled with people will end up as virtually empty tourist attractions. I bet in Europe they never guessed that was their future, and we shouldn't be so overly confident that it won't happen here too."

The Planter responds, It is happening in America. Two thirds of our emerging generations have or are leaving the church upon high school graduation. That's a well documented fact. Emerging generations are missing in action within the static institutional church. They love Jesus, they long to serve Him, they seek intimacy, they long for authenticity and they live for truth. They clearly want Jesus but do not seek Him at church.

The huge difference between Europe and America is simple to see. Europe didn't see the train wreck coming, but in America we do.

You hit it out of the park on this one. The reason that they are leaving is that they are looking for radical discipleship and the church as we know it (for the most part) is not willing to offer this. We must make a firm intention to pursue it at all costs. This reminds me of the passion that stirred over 10 years ago. The more time goes on the more that I am affirmed this was His heartbeat and it is ever increasing as we near His return. As I have been praying through Psalm 139 over the last few days, I am ever reminded how awesome He is and may He continue to stir all of our hearts for His purpose. His hand of blessing is upon our heads. May we respond with obedience! No time for optional discipleship! May God Help us…

This is so true. This generation of young people will not tolerate our church nonsense any longer. They know what is lacking and they are pursuing Jesus with all their hearts. It will be this generation who will make the greatest impact for the kingdom. So great, they will be remembered as the most effective kingdom generation of all Christian history.

I celebrate to new fire rekindling for the sake of the Great Commission.

Them they're pew sitters refuse the blessings so we'll just have to enjoy them ourselves. Too bad the church is missing out on the greatest kingdom blessings of all time. The new Reformation or continuance of the Reformation of America.
