Before I Address It...

Before I tell you how to Make Disciples -I guess I'd like to know how you think we should make disciples? Let's say you have a new believer who just accepted Christ, what would you do to disciple this person. How would you go about it? What would you teach? How would you determine what the person needed?

I look forward to hearing from you...If you have the COURAGE!

Oh dear, a few too many Cokes today Bobert? :) Can I cop out and say we should make disciples the way Jesus did? No, you probably won't be satisfied with JUST that answer -- thought it is the right one.

But I suspect (because I read ahead in this blog!) that you also aren't looking for programs!

What would I do to make a disciple? I'll get back to you on that. That's not an "off-the-cuff" answer.

Mike, try praying for God to connect you with a lost person. Tell the person you are praying for him and ask for prayer requests. Do that for a couple of weeks then offer to meet him for a coke. In time as God opens the door you will likely lead him to Jesus.

Following that, keep meeting with him every week to discuss the word of God and just meet him where he is at. Teach him what Jesus taught you in Scripture. Don't teach man made rules or doctrine that divides. Keep him moving through what Jesus moved us through in Scripture. If Jesus shared it -it is important. Jesus never taught Calvinism or Arminianism for starters. Stay away from such non-sense.

You're right, it is not a program. It is Spirit-led and Spirit guided. Ask God what to share and He will tell you and listen to your new convert for they will also tell you what they need.

It is that simply. Stay away from discipleship training programs that limit the work of God's Spirit. Avoid having a class or program that teaches discipleship without making disciples. Just do it, Mike. Many Churches in America teach a discipleship class -Like what I did by having a class - and then they think they have discipled. Discipleship is more than that -it is a one on one investment of time where we pour our lives into others with the Holy Spirit's help and guidance so as to bring about life-tranformation that is much more than going to Church on Sunday and feeling like you have served.

Remember it is about involving the Holy Spirit and life-transformation not dulication of what we call Church in America.

I could say alott more -but I'm not preaching as you know. I am leading a movement of life-transformation which will more than likely keep me out of American Church leadership as you know it. Why would I ever go back to a Hagar system that wants to feel good and do good and look good when so many are lost while we have our look good, feel good, do good meetings without life-transformation? I'm out and staying out for starters.
