I AM...

I am seeing signs of a Holy Spirit driven movement that is sweeping America. It will take all of us in the Christ community as disciple making and committed followers of Jesus to see the Church become disciples making disciples. I still believe that if God can do this in Africa, Asia, and other places, He can and wants to do it here in America.

Don't you want to become part of this disciples making disciples movement? God is doing it with or without us. I long for it to be with us all. What a blessing it is to see disciples making disciples in America!

I think God as all but abandonded America.

You see with its profligate waste, high levels of indebtedness and unsustainable lifestyle, the day of reckoning is drawing near.

The signs are there: peak oil, climate change, the rise of China (economically and militarily), and an economic system heading to collapse with foreigners becoming more unwilling to lend to the US combined with indebtedness and low savings.

You can pray really hard, but God appears to have stopped listening.

wow, David...you aren't living in the right place. While there is much physical deterioration(as there has been since sin invaded our planet)visible to the naked eye, all around me lives are being transformed....lifestyles are changing and people have hope. I'm sorry to be the one to say this, but it's really not about oil, or the climate, our economic system or even the dreaded debt. It's about changing lives. It's about knowing that God never leaves or forsakes you no matter what the "world" looks like. It seems your hope has traveled the way of the economic system....and your attitude like that of the foreigners you remind us that are "unwilling" in spirit. Take another look at you Scriptures my friend...God is in the House. His hand is alive and active...and it's reaching out to you.

I can understand how the spiritual themes you allude to, Judy, can be associated with deep meaning and significance for many people.

The right spiritual conditions can only survive in the right physical and social conditions. And taking a long view over history, it seems that resource distribution and limitations are the ultimate determining factors.

If all the above disasters happen close together, you can see a Hobbsian nightmare developing where there is "war of all against all" and life becomes "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short". In such a climate, "noble" spirituality will be long abandonded.

If you closed all the doors and windows, all the blinds and drapes and never went outside, would you insist that the sun refused to shine? So it is with God, my friend, the "right spiritual conditions" are always there for anyone who chooses to open the door and let it in. No amount of disasterious world events constrains the hand of God. Whether you believe it or not. Doors and drapes only hide the sun. Granted, sometimes circumstances may hide God in the life of the unbeliever...but He is there none-the-less.
By the way...what history books are you limiting yourself to? The Sciptures can give you insight to God's hand in the midst of the trumoil. Seeing the world through the eyes of the Creator is the only way to know for sure who is in control. Do you have a Bible? If not, get one and check it out for yourself. Don't assume you know about God if you haven't checked Him out for yourself.
